Lifestyle Photos for Po Campo Bike Bags
2024 marks my third year of photographing for New York based bicycle bag company Po Campo. I feel honored and grateful when clients keep returning to work with me on creating their visual content. It also does help that I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, the Northern California coast, where the weather is mild enough for outdoor photoshoots all year round. For this year’s photoshoot, we picked a beautiful trail in the Marin Headlands, a place where I ride my bike all the time and am very familiar with. We wanted to tell the story of many of Po Campo’s female riders: women in their 40s or 50s who either have little kids at home or grown up kids who left the nest, who are rediscovering cycling as a form of exercising and fostering community with other like-minded women. In this story, we have two women friends who go out for a relaxing bike ride together on one of the local bike trails near their home. Just like running, or yoga, cycling is a form of self-care, mental well-being, or simply catching up with friends. Po Campo’s bike bags can be used both on and off the bike, and as such they are more versatile and better suited for people who are not performance cyclists. As with most of my shoots, we used real people talent sourced from a real people talent agency (Models Inc Agency). The two of them met the morning of the shoot and they quickly hit it off and acted the part of best friends catching up. After rescheduling the shoot for several weeks due to heavy rains, we got extremely lucky with the first day of sun and blue skies in a long time, which made the day even better.
Many thanks to my assistant (and also wonderful photographer) Greer Rivera for her invaluable help on this shoot, carrying several heavy bags up a steep hill and keeping me on track with the shot list.
